Unique Features
Spine: Gold ribbing visible. slight wear on top edge. Few vertical cracks. Small discolored spot in panel below title ribbon.
Spine Lettering and Label: Title ribbon present with gold ribbing visible. Gold text block with smaller font format. lettering offset from center and more to right of spine. Noticeable rotation of letters “F and first “MO”
Cover: Attached. Marble lines on upper right edge. Small oval discoloration/mark at center left near gutter.
Binding: spine/cover hinging attached. Front and back endpapers present
Title Page: Attached. Triangular cockling on upper right and lower left corners. “Mary Chissom Book” in pencil above title and “Sept 26, 1841 (illegible W??) by ( Illegible, AA, Cl Cl?) Baldwin

Notes: It is likely that this volume belonged to Mary Baldwin Chissom (1783-1877) as she had siblings Capt Asa Baldwin, and Caleb Baldwin. Caleb Baldwin (1791-1849) was an early convert to the church and personal friends with Parley Pratt and Joseph Smith and was in Liberty Jail with Joseph. Mary also had a son, John Chissom (1850-1840).
